HSUS Exposed
Imagine, you are watching television. The commercial comes on. A dog, or a cat, in crisis. The caring helpful rescue worker comes in to save them. Then the Humane Society of the United States (HSUS) CEO Wayne Pacelle begins to tell you of all the heroic things they do. He asks you to donate to their cause. Did you donate funds? The truth is the HSUS only gives less than 6 percent of all donations they receive to the care of animals. They support no local shelters of any kind. The HSUS has built up assets in excess of $223 million, and has an annual operating budget in excess of $100 million dollars. Wayne Pacelle himself draws a base salary of $300K per year. With your donations! It is time to think of the HSUS as the H$U$. Most people think that their local Humane Society shelter is sponsored and funded by the H$U$. This is not the reality of it. This is supposed to be a charitable organization, yet the largest majority of funds donated are used to lobby Washington for legislation. They work their agenda in one state, and move on to other states. What they are lobbying for is not in the best interest of animals, or the people who love them. If these organizations get their full agenda passed through, you will not be able to purchase meat, eggs, cheese (made from milk), milk or any other animal based protein.
Time and time again, the HSUS, under the leadership of Wayne Pacelle, have shown just how little they care for animals. In a May 1993 article in Animal People News, Mr. Pacelle stated "We have no ethical obligation to preserve the different breeds of livestock produced through selective breeding...One generation and out. We have no problems with the extinction of domestic animals. They are the creations of human selective breeding." In another 1993 article, written by Ted Kerasote, Mr. Pacelle stated , when asked if he envisioned a future without pets, "If I had my personal view perhaps that might take hold. In fact, I don't want to see another dog or cat born." Wayne Pacelle, at the July 2002 Animal Rights Convention, stated "We would be foolish and silly not to unite with people in the public health sector, the environmental community, and unions, to try to challenge corporate agriculture." Under Title 18 CHAPTER 105 SABOTAGE, Section 2152 - Livestock are second in importance as war materials and defense materials only to guns and ammunition. HSUS is guilty of interfering with the raising of livestock and therefore is guilty of sabotaging national defense materials.
Peter Singer, a Princeton Bioethicist, who 30 years ago wrote "Animal Liberation", believes there should be no human exceptionalism (human life matters morally simply because it is human). In Practical Ethics, he wrote "some members of other species are persons: some members of our own species are not." The problem with this lies in the fact that the latter reference includes the unborn, infants, and people with serious mental cognitive impairments, according to Wesley J. Smith, a special consultant to the Center for Bioethics and Culture Network. This eventually would lead to the destruction of universal human rights. Mr. Singer's book "Animal Liberation" is considered to be the Bible of animal rights groups.
Just this last year, Wayne Pacelle has decided to help Michael Vick "reform his image." We all know the brutality of his crimes. On October 18, 2009, two former employees of the HSUS Emergency Rescue Team, Ronnie Graves and Allen Schwartz, were interviewed by the Carroll Cox Show. Both of these two former employees stated that they were given badges that closely resembled law enforcement badges, under the direction of Scotlund Haisley, another employee of HSUS. Mr. Haisley told them that "he wanted the scum to think we're law enforcement." Mr. Pacelle response to this was "I like the Cowboy Ways that Scotlund brings to the team." They try to convince people that they are a true law enforcement agency by intimidation tactics. Is this really what the HSUS needs in practice and leadership?
If PETA got their way, you would not be able to take your family to an aquatic park to view and learn about the wonderful creatures there. You would also pay an excise, or "sin" tax on the purchase of any meat or meat product. They would like to see a ten cent tax on every pound of meat purchased. You would not be able to wear leather, there will be no fishing or hunting. PETA is known for its provocative advertisements, many of which cannot be aired, or are refused by networks. According to the Center for Consumer Freedom, in 2001, PETA donated $1500.00 to the North American Earth Liberation Front, a criminal organization that the FBI classifies as "domestic terrorists". Since the year 2000, many of their activists have been arrested over 80 times, for charges including felony obstruction of government property, criminal mischief, assaulting a cabinet official, felony vandalism, obscene acts in public, destruction of federal property, and burglary. PETA's leadership openly advocates breaking the law. In 2003, PETA collected over $24 million from Americans in donations. We are financing their illegal acts.
Paul Shapiro, co-founder of the group Compassion Over Killing, stated in October of 2004, while addressing the University of California-Berkeley, "nothing is more important than promoting veganism." In 2005, he was recruited to work for the HSUS. Michael W. Fox, retired Senior Scholar of Bioethics employed by the HSUS from 1976-2002, stated to the Washingtonian Magazine in October of 1990 that "We are not superior. There are no clear distinctions between us and animals." In that same year, he stated that the life of an ant and the life of his child should be granted equal consideration. Do you begin to see a pattern in the mentality and workings of the HSUS and other organizations of "animal rights"?
One other problem is that HSUS, PETA and Animal Rights are very similar in their "style" of animal "care and welfare". These and other organizations similar to them either exaggerate minor issues, or create them in order to lobby for legislation. The legislator's listen to them, as they either have little or no knowledge about the responsible Pet Breeders, nor the responsible farming and agriculture industry, or don't bother to do the research for themselves. A lot of times, their decisions are solely based on the supposed reputation of the organization. HSUS, PETA, Animal Rights, and other similar organizations do not distinguish between animal welfare and animal rights. Animal rights supporters believe that animal life is equal to or above human life. Animal welfare supporters believe in preventing cruelty and the suffering of animals, and provide care for animals in need. Organizations such as HSUS, PETA and Animal Rights do absolutely nothing to benefit animal rights. In fact, they hinder them, and in many ways, set them back a great deal. They campaign for donations by making people feel guilty in some sort of way, then spend very little of the millions they collect on trivial little public campaigns. People feel good about donating and feel they have fulfilled their societal obligations. They don't really know what happens to that money. If you want to check this out, the HSUS tax identification number is 53-0225390. If you look at everything thoroughly, you will find that they use your money to market themselves under the mask of "working for animal rights". These organizations are using the money you donate to legislate away your right to have a pet!
