Socialist Farm Production in America?
How many of you remember working the family farm? If President Obama had gotten his way, that tradition may have come to an abrupt end.
While claiming to “be working to reduce unnecessary regulations,” the Obama administration had ordered the Labor Department to apply child labor laws to family farms. At the urging of Human Rights Watch and LaRaza, these new rules would drastically alter the family farm practices that have been going on for centuries by making portions of the work shared by the children of the family now illegal. After all, Obama promised to “utterly transform America,” and has waged war on the oil and gas industry, the Second Amendment, war on internet freedom, war on the Supreme Court, and the list goes on and on. We surely cannot forget Obamacare or our apparently shredded Constitution.
According to Kurt Nimmo of infowars.com, “Under the rules, children under 18 would be prevented by the federal government from working ‘in the storing, marketing and transporting of farm product raw materials’ and prohibited ‘places of employment would include country grain elevators, grain bins, silos, feed lots, stockyards, livestock exchanges and livestock auctions. In addition to making it far more difficult for families to work their farms, the new rules will revoke the government’s approval of safety training and certification taught by independent groups like 4-H and FFA and replace them with a 90-hour federal government training course, the Daily Caller reports.” The proposed regulation would set a minimum age for members to come into contact with farm animals.
Traditions, including animal husbandry and crop management, that have been passed from generation to generation for centuries would be forcibly taught by the federal government. Government “officials” would oversee any and all farm production in the same manner that Stalin ordered in the Soviet Union when he collectivized farms and socialist production at gunpoint. Millions were sent to prison camps following the resistance by farmers and peasants to Stalin’s efforts and were met with the Soviet government cutting off food rations, resulting in widespread famine.
The Labor Department’s actions are the result of an unconstitutional executive order by Obama, issued on June 9, 2011, that established so called rural councils. “According to this new executive order, the Obama administration plans to stick its itchy little fingers into just about every aspect of rural life,” the Economic Collapse Blog noted at the time. “One of the stated goals of the White House Rural Council is to do the following…. ‘Coordinate and increase the effectiveness of Federal engagement with rural stakeholders, including agricultural organizations, small businesses, education and training institutions, health-care providers, telecommunications services providers, research and land grant institutions, law enforcement, State, local, and tribal governments, and nongovernmental organizations regarding the needs of rural America.’”
This all coincides with efforts by the United Nations under Agenda 21, a direct assault on private property rights and American sovereignty. It would appear that the United Nations would like to bring humanity under the tight control of their chosen elite. Section one of the executive order contains language which is right out of the UN Agenda 21. Despite what is left of the American family farm, last May 31, 2011, the Department of Transportation proposed that “The Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA), part of the Department of Transportation (DOT), wants new standards that would require all farmers and everyone on the farm to obtain a CDL (Commercial Drivers License) in order to operate any farming equipment. The agency is going to accomplish this by reclassifying all farm vehicles and implements as Commercial Motor Vehicles (CMVs).” This would have had the potential to cost family farmers thousands of dollars, or force them out of business, as the farmer’s children are an essential part of the family farming operations. However, this allegedly proved to be an exaggeration of the requests for public comments, and on August 10, 2011, the DOT issued a press release saying they had no intentions of imposing this regulation, stating it was impractical and onerous. Many feel that the proposed regulation was in fact not a rumor and is being covered up by DOT Secretary Ray LaHood in this election year. Let’s not forget that Sec. LaHood holds a seat on the newly formed White House Rural Council.
We cannot deny other efforts by the federal government to attack small family farms. We have heard it reported in the media, but pay little attention to the one here and the one there, never thinking about the collective actions and results. Senator Jerry Moran of Kansas and Senator John Thune of South Dakota introduced the Preserving America’s Family Farm Act to prevent the Department of Labor (DOL) from enacting its controversial proposed regulations. Given the fact that this is an election year, the DOL backed down on the proposed regulation, by exempting children who worked on farms owned or operated by their parents, even if the ownership was part of a complex partnership or corporate agreement. The DOL further backed down on this proposed regulation in late April 2012 by withdrawing the rule. Even with the misconceptions in the proposed regulation, a large outcry came from rural America, and it would appear that someone in the DOL heard it. Should Obama be re-elected, will we see the return of this proposed regulation? Ah, but does it end here?
According to Food Freedom News, the Obama Administration and his Monsanto Food and Drug Administration has the Justice Department going after farmer’s monies, under the Bank Secrecy Act, which was modified following 9/11. One farmer, Randy S., went to the bank to deposit his earnings of over $10,000 and found out that he would have to fill out a ton of paperwork. He chose to roll over the money to maintain his privacy and avoid the red tape that is supposed to be aimed at illegal activities, not family farming. The Justice Department seized $70,000 from his bank accounts, and has since sued to keep $63,000 of Randy’s money, though he has committed no illegal acts. The Feds did the same thing to a produce farmer, seizing $90,000 of his monies and have dropped the charges against him, but they are keeping $45,000 of his monies! Apparently those annual income tax returns were not soon enough for the feds to find out the incomes and expenses of small family farm operations. Given the fact that family farms operate on a thin margin, this could destroy the operation with the loss of spring planting monies. Why, how dare these small family farms compete against the monopoly power of Monsanto, Big Dairy and their cohorts in the food industry! Despite the vast amount of mortgage fraud manipulation committed by Bank of America, Goldman Sachs, Fannie Mae/Freddie Mac (oh wait-those last two are government sponsored) and other “bank fraudsters,” they are still in business. Former Maryland assistant U.S. attorney Steven Levin told Food Freedom News “The emphasis is on basically seizing money, whether it is legally or illegally earned. It can lead to financial ruin for business owners, and there’s a potential for abuse here by the government.” No kidding!
It would appear that the federal government feels that their job is to micro-manage each facet of our lives, and if they cannot do that, they allegedly will resort to unconstitutional regulation to steal from law abiding citizens. Do they feel they need to break down the family and increase dependence on the federal government, as this appears to be the direction they are going? Remember what happened to the slaves of Egypt! Does our government feel that a family farm “generates capitalism every day in mass production” and needs to be squashed? It would appear so. Or are they more afraid of the independence children learn from working on the family farm? The redistribution of wealth is a socialist tactic, and it is outright theft-not “sharing the burden” as they would have us to believe! Considering the actions of our government, maybe we should be calling it the Department of Absurdity!
